Light (2024)
The world is in turmoil, life is hard for many. I myself also feel pessimistic about where we are going, but in my personal life I don’t feel that. I see a bright future. I make installations that are often about connection, space, light and hope.
On the ramparts of Ypres, I stretched wires between the branches of the trees and the ground at a series of trees. With strips of organza on the wires, light, airy, playful in the wind, in different colours. Darker colours close to the ground, at the start of the walk, lighter colours at height. With the walk along the installation, and with the gaze upwards, the visitor’s gaze is drawn to the light.
Sporen took place from 9 September to 8 October 2024 on the ramparts of Ypres, Belgium.
